broswing using wifi- if 3G is turned to on will speed increase?

Hi, I found this tip from Tiphub My question: If I'm browsing the net through my wifi (to perlico) and I have 3G turned on will this increase the browsing speed? Or is the 3G just specifically for direct drowsing via a carrier? TIP This might sound strange but unless you need the speed of browsing the internet at 3G speeds…

TIP

This might sound strange but unless you need the speed of browsing the internet at 3G speeds instead of WiFi you can double your talk time from 5 hours to a whooping 10 hours!

To disable your 3G do the following:

Click on the Settings gear icon
Click on General
Click on Network
Slide the Enable 3G to OFF

Complete nonsense, tbh.

I think what the person is trying to say is that if you switch off 3G you will save battery life, in a round about way.
