Well done Paul, great win. Was due to play the lumsden in Royal Dublin yesterday but had to pull out due to a new little arrival in our family.

    Does anyone know the results?

Woodenbridge course was was wet (to be expected) with intermitant rain. No muck on the course and the ball remained clean throughout. I always enjoy this couse (even when playing badly) and travel up from south Wexford every year. Greens in great nick again although I found the holes a little on the small side!! Competition was well organised.
The club have already updated their website to show the results. 2 Dubs from same family were 1st and 2nd with +1 and +2 respectively (not all bad for the dubs today:).
Recommend anyone to put it in the diary for next year.
I should be on commission :)!!!

Anyone playing the JSC in Westmastown this Sunday? Was wondering if it was 18 or 36 holes?

Thinking about playing as the weather seems to be taking a turn for the better this week!!

Agree with the above. As I've said many times, it's my favorite golf course. Sure, it's not the K Club, but there's something about the place. Sadly, there seems to be some issue with greens-staff numbers. The greens were extremely slow, compared to how good they can be, though they were true and rolling nicely all the same. The fairways were similarly shaggy but anyone who knows the place knows that under it all there's a great little track.

Turn-out was down on previous years. A good few cry-offs too but I think a combination of the weather, a huge funeral in Arklow that morning, and the b/h monday slot, given that you can't really go too mad on your b/h sunday night if you don't want to risk getting stopped on the N11 the next morning didn't help.

Scoring was good though. 71 won last year on a perfect day. Yesterday was much rougher so 72, 73 and 74 were good scores to take first, second and third. There was also a nett 65 by a guy off 9!

I see the sheet has finally filled. I didn't realise they altered qualifying this year and allowed 4 handicappers in (4 to 9).

I wonder is it due to the fact the many of the major open club events have strugggled with numbers this year?

Nah they've been talking about doing it for years

They've been letting a few 10's from Clontarf in in recent years so they decided it'd just be better to make it 4-9, improve the standard

Interesting, didn't hear mention of it so will be interesting to see how many 4's enter.

I know, it's probably to facilitate some of Clontarf's 4 to be honest.

If I were you I would just show up early Sheet, there are always no-shows at these things, I'm pretty sure you'll get out.

If not, I'm sure there are some that may feel the need for a caddy. :D:D:D

I've something on that morning but will hopefully get something in the afternoon.

I just booked for 10.20 it's 18 holes €20 entry, sounds like the timesheet is fairly empty.

Anyone played here before? Whats it like?

Wouldn't rate the place too highly to be honest, fairly flat and dull.

Pretty open too, if you can drive the ball fairly well you'll it eat up.

That sounds good to me, need a place like this to get a bit of confidence back!! If I've given golf up by Monday you will know why!!

Thinking of travelling from Cork to either East Clare JSC or Thurles JSC on Sunday. Haven't played either.

Thoughts on which I should attend. I expect Thurles would be a shorter drive so if it's much of a muchness I'll probably go to that.

A little unfair I think. I last played Westmanstown in 2004 before I played it again back in May and it's undergone a lot of changes, all for the better I might add.

It was in good nick when I played it and if the wind gets up there are some tough holes on it.
