I'm moving back from Canada and trying to understand if I should bring the TVs with me, I have a couple of lcd tvs - Samsung and a Sharp.

Anyone know if they will work in Ireland, would I need something to convert power / signal?

Simple answer no as u are on NTSC and we here are on PAL

The votage /cycles per sec also different u are 100v/60 hz
    we are 220v/50hz

The power units may be multi-region but the NTSC will be an issue: if u have any NTSC home video stuff u may want to bring one screen for it

Check the manual. Some units may be capable of switching between PAL/SECAM/NTSC. Some even auto-detect.

Consider posting on Tech>Home Entertainment>Video Displays & Projectors.

thanks for the info guys, I'll check the manuals. I do understand I can get around the power issue easily enough with a small transformer.

Just a thought but if your TVs are HD Ready and you intend to use them for Sky+HD or with European DVD players then you should check that the TVs can handle the 50Hz frame rate. Most US TVs can handle 720p/60Hz but Sky+HD uses 720p/50Hz which suit European TVs. It's something that I've come across recently with an old plasma display and is worth bearing in mind.
