It doesnt make sense. You have to choose one or the other.

You can apply for both, but when it gets to a certain point, you have to make a choice.

I guess if you get to the stage where either one is offering you a place then its not so bad. Would be worse if they declined either one of the applications at the start.

    True.

They wont stop you making an application. If I remember correctly, I had to state If I had any applications for other forces ongoing when I applied. I guess it's up to the specific forces whether or not they are happy with applicants hedging their bets.

Having been fretting a bit about the PSNI recruitment process, I've just stumbled across these forums today.

I applied to join back in April this year, did the A/C at the start of June and havent heard anything yet. Nothing about medical or vetting.

Does anyone know what timescale they're running to? Thought I would have heard a pass/fail/next step by now

No news is good news I suppose!

Hi all. I am new to the board but cant wait to get to know some of you. I did my AC on 22nd June. Harder than expected. :( Just wondered if any of you know if it is acceptable to have had laser surgery to bring your eye sight up to the required level.

Just for anyone who is interested, it would appear that you cannot apply for another UK force alongside PSNI. I was allowed to before (about 4 years ago) but having just had a letter back from another force following submission of a new application advising me that they wouldn't consider me until 12 months after the resolution of my PSNI application, it would appear policies have changed.

    Bummer.

Gosh, GMP were more than happy to have me. Think every force is different though. Would be best to ring and check if applying to a UK one.

Congratulations my AC was the 9 Jul so a long wait it seems for me. Not too hopeful to be honest though.

Anyone else attend the AC on this date?

thing is, im happy with the pass, but unless i come out with a good merit score it means nothing at all. ah well happy at the minute :D

    Hi bc,

Mine was 11th June so hopefully should hear soon enough! Nerves now.

I am a bit worried though as I didnt find it overly hard on the day and felt reasonably confident. Maybe I didnt put the effort in :(

    Ah well, fingers crossed now!
