Yeah great laugh, have to suggest it in work. Have the perfect spot, in the dark dingy dungeons that Trinity college call basements. The amount of times we have to go into them with just a little maglite cable tied to out shoulder and make off 100 and 200 pair multicore cables in junction boxes. With cider cans and rats all around and you can see the thick black dust in the air.

ya cant beat a good bit of NV RJ45. :)

Actually, that'd make a funny pic. Think we have enough cutters and crimpers to fill a molle vest :)

Sounds like a fun night out, when's it on. Sitting in the middle of a field, a feck off loom of cable, cheapy aldi NVGs and let the carnage commence.

I'll bring the Fluke DTX testers.

Random question: Are those metal rings that you place in the bottom of the hop unit around the barrel important? I cant get the ruddy thing off.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

yeah they keep the barrel central in the hopup unit. otherwise the barrel would lean to one particular side.

Cool, time to hunt down ridiculous accessories and unnecessary parts and fork out extortionate prices for them.

ServerSim. Tell you what, you get the data looms sorted, I'll run in the SWA for the power and build up the ridiculous bank of unnecessary power cleaners, stabilisers and the big ass UPS's. I'll need to dig out my trusty Fluke 175 and my Atlas LCR to cope with the night vision.

This all sounds like something off You Bet! from about 10 years ago.

Can you fix my access point under fire and can you make off a Cat 5 connection in the dark using nightvision without a kroning tool?

Down the line we'll be doing night operations and using Cat 6, but we're still organising certs for that. We've gotten a guy who can build sites with the screen turned off and with laminated sheets, he's almost the Bear Grylls of web development. We're not totally sure if he'll be allowed to do it on-site yet, negotiations are on-going. We are also fully endorsed by the IAAI and SSIA.

We feel that some of you are skeptical, we'll just have to demonstrate our capabilities. You know how to contact us with email through PM on our site.

I hear he has a chef prepare the weird stuff then they pack it in a lunchbox for wee Bear to bring out on his little day trips.

    Ray Mears ftw.

Ray Mears is a glorified scout leader. Bear Grylls is ex SAS and has climbed Everest... twice... after breaking his back. Regardless of production values of the show, he's still pretty sodding serious.

He's a twat regardless, never enjoyed his own brand of extreme x-games style survival.

    Too much nonsense.

That's because you're a tasteless commie and Bear embodies everything heroic and awesome in the free, capatilist world.

    Only part time SAS though:p

Sure everest is just a walk, hardly the height of mountaineering difficulty

They must have a hotel up there now too then if Bear went.

    And whats with that name?

    Bear Gryles

    Grizzly Barbeque the Xtreem survivalist.

Theres another quality of Ray Mears, he has a real persons name, not a name you'd give a propane stove company.

Les Stroud Aka Survivorman does a survival show except he's on his own and films it all himself. for example, he got a snow mobile in alaska, drove it into the wild til it ran out of pertol, then had to make his way out. Pretty good stuff

    Bear grills is a legend,
Yes, he is extreme, but thats exactly the point. he's teaching you how to survive without all the nicety's like ray mears. Bear was also voted best survivalist,

Ray mears spends 4 hours making a bleedin oven to cook the piece of meet a farmer left out for him, in which time he could have been tabbing or doing something that would help his rescue in a situation where he was lost.
    :)
