You can have a PSNI and UK force application running side by side. You arent allowed 2 UK force applications running at the same time.

Ps- the application form took me a few days to complete.

Thanks PYG, thats good to know. I wasn't sure whether I could have 2 going or not. Its a tossup between strathclyde and GMP for me, I have applied to Strathclyde before and fancied the thought of GMP this time but I'm a bit put off by the length of application process with GMP too. Strathclyde in my experience have been very quick and efficient in their application process.

    ooooh decisions!

GMP wasnt too bad. They had loads of appilcations to read, and trust me they are detailed. They sent a letter saying thanks for application and they were going to score the competence section and then post results. Then I got a letter saying the results would be out soon. The results and feed back is very detailed, I scored within the top 5% of applicants. They say Ac will be in a certain month and then they ring you and offer you the choice of a AC date.

I guess at least they are very upfront about where you are in the application process which is one of the most frustrating things with PSNI!

Thanks for all that info PYG, I'll definitely phone in the morning and get the mammoth application form - at least I am prepared for how long it is now!!!

    Do it online!!

Its not online at the mo - they are opening phone lines tomorrow at 8am and the first 750 callers will get application forms and then they'll close the lines again. They will email the application form to me after that, according to the website.

Is that different to when you applied PYG?

Yep. I applied online via- www.policecouldyou.co.uk , its lists all the UK forces and who are recruiting, you just click the link and fill in the form. It says nothing about future campaigns so you just need to check everyday. I would say GMP will be on it tomorrow. Some open recruitment at midnight, so if you are up that last tonight go online and look. Maybe they have changed the way they recruit.

Oooh, i'll not be up late tonight but I'm up at 6am in the morning so I'll go on then and have a look. Thanks so much!

What would really make things a lot better would be if I got home from work tomorrow and had a nice Deloitte letter on the mat, eh?!

No worries. Definately give GMP a go.

Doubt there will be any post tomorrow what with the hols. Your GMP application will help you forget about your PSNI application.

Anyway, all the best and let me know what you decide.

Hey just wondering how many people have had letters so far from C15 and where we are up to in AC dates? also has anyone had a fail letter yet?

Few posts about this over on the vetting thread. There's a few C15 folk have had vetting and medical forms, one I've heard that has vetting forms but no medical date. No fail letters that I've heard yet.

    Me....I've had nada

Thats good. I did mine the second week of AC's and haven't heard yet. As someone said before, It can be a random process, well it seems that way to us lot anyway. Good luck to everyone for upcoming AC's and those waiting on results as well.

True, but they will find out when it comes to vetting.

You cannot be at the vetting stage for UK and PSNI at same time so you will have to drop out of one when it comes to the crunch.

Who said that? Never heard that before!

Happened to me. Joined Meseyside 4 years ago. Was at appointment stage for Merseyside and was at Medical / Vetting stage for PSNI.

Merseyside phoned me and told me that Home Office had me involved in the final stages for 2 forces. I had to choose one.

I had to write a letter to consensia (as it was then) and inform them I wanted to withdraw. Had to forward a copy of said letter to Merseyside recruitment.

So there you go. Not untrue.

Im surprised. It dont think I have seen I 'CLEARLY' stated anywhere that it would be a problem. Just one of those things I guess.

    Untrue. I checked today.

A UK force are going to be reluctant to offer jobs to people who are waiting on a start date for the PSNI.

It doesnt make sense. You have to choose one or the other.

You can apply for both, but when it gets to a certain point, you have to make a choice.
