Just got this from ABB telecom, formerly NBB. What do people think...

Dear Valued Customer of ABB TELECOM Ltd.
In the first instance we would like to thank you for giving us your business and we hope that your broadband service is moving along smoothly without too many hiccups.
We have been advised by our clearing Bank that we need to change two words on our original Direct Debit form so unfortunately this means that you need to fill in a new Direct Debit form and return it to us ASAP. You will notice that we have not taken any money from your account due to the above problem. Once we receive the new DD from you we will then take two payments from your account initially and from then onwards will revert to standard monthly payment. As well as the Direct Debit we need you to sign and return the contract also.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO (PLEASE)
    1. Visit our website at www.abbtelecom.ie.
    2. Decide which package you wish to sign up for (most NBB customers were on the equivalent of our Silver 24 month package at €49.95 per month which gave 1Meg. down.
    3. Having decided on which package you wish to go with please follow the instructions and download the contract together with the direct debit form.
    4. Please fill in and sign the contract.
    5. Please fill in and sign the direct debit form.
    6. Please post the signed documents back to us at : ABB Telecom Ltd., Penthouse Suite, Eastwae House, Kinnegad , Co. Westmeath.
We would very much appreciate if you could send the documents back to us by return post if possible.
We are also required by the bank to send you an initial notification letter regarding the direct debit and we will do this by email in the next few days.
We very much apologise for the fact that you have to fill the forms in twice

    Kind Regards,

Due to the way DD working in Ireland I pay credit card and pay it off each month rather than DD for ANYTHING.

I'd check you can't get Fixed Wireless or DSL.

I'd get either your existing Astra2Connect from an non-Phoenix company or an alternate Satellite product (from under €30 a month).

NBB and ABB are technically completely separate companies. NBB owes a lot of money.

    Thanks Watty,

Unfortunately, I can't get DSL, live 8KM from exchange and also live in a very bad area for wireless. Barely get phone reception!

The problem with other satellite companies is the startup costs...in the case of Digiweb, they are looking for over €800 to set it up. At least with these I don't have an upfront cost, but your point is very valid. I guess you get what you pay for!

There are two alternate reseller/Agents of your existing system. One in UK and one in Ireland.
