Its the same as it is every year. While the climate changes the Irish ability to remember with fondness Summers gone despite the fact that those Summers were almost as equally shit. Stop moaning!

I have been out of the country for the last three summers so I can't say for sure, but is this not a better summer than last year? Didn't it rain for something like 56 days straight? In dublin that is.

And it's sunny at the mo here!

If i remember well it was 45 days in a row that had at least 1 period of rain.
Compared to that, this year could still be so much better. just give us 1x 24 hours of no rain.

i hate the irish summer it always seems to be bad. though we can all remember that one good summer we got about 10 years ago. Its one of the main reasons im planning on moving countries, sick of not being able to plan any outdoor activities without worrying about the weather

I remember when I first went to Australia I noticed all the shops had these sort of covered walkways outside the front of them. I observed to one of the people I was with "that's a good idea, it keeps you out of the rain when you're walking around town. He replied "nah mate, that's to keep the shops in the shade from the sun.".

    ****ing Irish weather!

I think people don't realise that this summer is much better than 07 and 08. Especially 08. I'm happy aslong as there's no constant on-and-off rain and only a few thunderstorms. I'm grand with cloud and some rain, and that's all we've gotten. Relax.

jumpguy is right! Last summer was far worse as it was colder in the day (airflow was mainly
n-w) and the frequency for rain activity was far greater. This summer is merely average so far.

    Where do you live?
I'm in Dublin- I can count on one hand the number of days I've seen a blue sky since June. We've had almost 3 inches of rain- since Sunday, and its only Tuesday. Rainfall in May and June is running at almost 16% higher than '08 and 12% higher than '07- and those were bad years...... Our average temperature in Dublin, July to-date is 16 degrees centigrade. I'm wearing a woolly jumper and thermal underwear- on the 21st of July........

Sure we had a nice April- but that seems like a distant memory.......

I'm in Limerick atm. It's overcast. I must say, I defo think this summer is better than last summer. It's about 16-18 Degrees Celsius here with a fresh breeze...and I'm still wearing a shirt. Maybe I have a better tolerance for cold, but 16 Degrees Celsius is warm for me. I distinctly remember last summer had a much colder breeze to it.

Summer= end of May, June, August and beginning of September.

July= our wet season (although it can start as early as half-way through June and usually spills over into a good chunk of August).

ps. I thought the thread title was "Irish scummer", and groaned at the thought of another idiotic After hours thread.
