Davin Stand Upper (restricted view)

I was in the Upper Davin Stand last year for the Scotland game. Unfortunately the upper stands are miles from the action :( Bring a pair of binoculars with you.

If you are on the lower stands then Id say you would be ok, as I was in the lower stands during the summer for the Cork fooball and hurling games and they were grand. That was for GAA which would be closer to the supporter. But they would still be ok for the rugby I would say.

I suspect the restricted view seats on the Davin stand are those located behind the big screen .....

Yeh - somebody said they were away up in the corner behind big screen. Suppose its better than nothing. Might keep an eye out for a couple of seats in the cusack or hogan 15-20 mins into match. Theres always a few people not showing up for one reason or another.

    Cannae wait......

Is the big screen not at the other end beside Hill 16?

This is the view from the Davin!

I would say that the upper would be better than the lower stand. I was in the lower section for the Argies game and was very disapointed. Too far away and too low down to get an overview of the game. I don't know what the restricted view is all about. Big screen is at the other end.

I've had seats in 512 and 513 before (premium level, corner of Davin and Cusack) for concerts and hurling matches, and if you're right up the back you can be right beside a post, which can fairly restrict your view. Wouldn't be anything similar in the upper Davin on the corners would there?

For those new to Croke Park (?!), there are 2 big screens. One in the Nally Stand/Terrace and one on the Hogan corner of the Davin Stand. I can't picture any posts/pillars in the upper Davin/Hogan/Cusack, but maybe there are. My guess, too, would be the big screen. If you're high up the stand, your vision of high ball is impaired.

Note the top right of the Davin where the screen is.

    Thanks guys,
Yeh reckon i'll be up in section 724. I can't see the view being too restricted but don't mind so much - just glad to be going.

TV coverage FTW. A decent terrace seat in Croker is superb but the stands either end of the pitch make for some difficult watching and there's no sense of perspective. :(

Hope they're good seats as that's where we are! Either way I am sure it will be a great night! By the way, anyone know if food/beverages and cameras are allowed? Sorry if that's deemed a daft question but let's just say it's been a while!!!

I'm guessing the person did a search for 'Davin Stand Upper' and stumbled upon this without looking at the forum its in. The U2 concerts maybe?

by far the best place for atmosphere is hill 16, right in behind the posts.

Seats were great - The restricted view was that we couldnt see the scoreboard or how much time was left in the match which was a bummer but i guess that wont affect you if you're at the U2 concert.
Heres a photo i took - Have a good night.

Sorry to drag this thread up again............But just interested in your feedback about booking tickets in this area (Seats at the back of section 723/724) ?

Basically how restricted is the view? I saw a photo from an earlier poster and it didn't look too bad!

I'm looking to book tickets for Ireland V Australia and South Africa and they're a gift so I don't want to book them if the view is going to be awful!!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

I just booked the restricted view tickets, €65 for both Aus and SA is very cheap. No idea of the view though but I suspect most of the pitch will be unobstructed.

Yeah I might as well chance it! Its a good deal alright! Just didn't want to be looking at the back of a screen for the match!

You won't be, I'd say at least 80% of the pitch is perfectly viewable. Maybe more.

    Hi Shelllz,

€65 euro is a bargain for the 2 matchs - Go for it. The seats are probably the furthest you can be from the pitch but the view is fine and the only restriction to the view is that you cant see the scoreboard and so cant see how much time is left in the match. Heres the view from our seats last year - you can see the back of the scoreboard at the Davin end blocks the scoreboard on the Hill.

you will get a bit of a fright when the loud noise of the screens starts but you will get used to it after a while.
