Handy for people who travel to London frequently but not really a Bargain Alert as such for the average joe.

I imagine it'd be the same price in all UK Currys, so anyone heading north might benefit.

Reads on Nassau street in Dublin are advertising a 1TB hardrive for €99.

Komplett seem to have some good prices for TB hard drives. Internal and external ranging from €69 to €120 for 1.5 TB drives.

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/kc.aspx?bn=10088

    Might be worth a gander.

Maplin are offering a 1.5TB HD for €150. It is maxtor, a brand of which I have heard mixed reviews. Still at 10Gb/€...

Wouldn't trust a Maxtor, Genghis. 10Gb/€ seems good till it breaks :P

I find Maplin.... very....very.... pricey for what you are getting! Though I guess it depends on what you need it for. 1.5TB for €100-€140 is pretty good!

Depending on the rush.... Tom's hardware are talking about usb 3.0 coming out end of the year

    Worth waiting?

Does anyone else find the atom website really crappy - subcatagories exist but when you click on them it tells you nothing is available. Looks kinda pricey too.

Yep.. it's quoted at €99 on the website.

They have the 500GB quoted at the same price.. not to mention..

I was looking at that the other day. Was wondering what the hell was going on. All of the disks say that they don't need external power, so that can't be the explanation.

I've had an external one for about 2 years now, never had any trouble with it. The HDD inside was a Maxtor though.

I have one for about 3 or 4 months, no problems so far, have about 700GB off stuff on it. Pretty good value imo, currently there for E80.

I guess one's mains powered, one usb. Looks like one is a passport style drive(the more expensive one).

Not much of a bargain since it is in London.

Take a look at the peats website on the front page. €79.95
And peats is a brick and mortar shop :D

will it work ok with a mac..?

Peats in Rathmines had these Iomega 1TB drives at €79. Should work fine with your Mac if it's formatted appropriately.
