25% of the Irish population could catch the influenza A (H1N1) swine flu virus this autumn and winter.

The virus is spreading fast across much of England and the total of those affected rose by 42% in the seven days up to last Sunday

    Vaccine unlikely until October

Only a couple of thousand will die.

I hear Ebola is on its way too atm, that'll be fun

How many are likely to get normal flu? How many are likely to die from it? Its new, but I'm not sure its any more dangerous tbh.

Just goes to show, we're a country of pigs.

And it's all just a styload of hype anyway, papers never refusing ink and all that. They stoke our fears and feed off of them. Same as always.

It effects everyone differently, some die, most dont but my cousin caught it, all she had was litterally a cough and temperature nothing else. Still had to take tamiflu though.

Junkies will be polished off when they get it :)

Like a normal flu it is only very dangerous to those in the at risk categories. There is no use trying to prevent it's spread at this stage. It's here and it's not going to leave!

1 million or more may get it but for a lot of them it will be just like a cold, and nothing else.

Worry not stiff kitten! Worrying is pointless. Like a rocking chair. You can rock all evening long but it'll get you nowhere.

As Pighead's Grandad used to always say "If you treat every situation as a life and death matter, you'll die a lot of times"

Never got the flu before. Not too bothered if I do, I'm young, healthy and fairly fit. It hasn't killed anyone healthy yet in Europe. I'd say if 100,000,000 got it it'd be a worst-case scenario.

some doctors say swine flu can even go away with a few days rest, if you catch it it doesnt mean you will die, oh and by the way there is already a successful vaccine but it wont be mass produced until september

They reckon 98% of cases will be mild, and that those most at risk are under 30's.

True. In seriousness though, when it comes to vulnerable groups, drug addicts are most definitely in that category.

Killed three healthy people in England last week. Still a tiny number.

The hype and fear mongering of this Swine flu is ridiculous, I won't be taking any vaccines.

Alright pal, Pighead realises that he told you to stop worrying about our impending death but to be perfectly honest you've gone too far over the other side now. Cracking rubbish jokes isn't gonna help anybody. You've got to find a balance between worry and carefree. Think James Bond. Time and time again he saved the world from evil ruthless dictators yet he always done so with a cheeky quip and a smile on his face. Multitasking is what it's all about.

I met someone that supposedly had the swine flu, I was watching the lions test match in a pub in Rotterdam chatting to some south Africans when they casually mention they have/had swine flu.

I was fine though maybe all the alcohol and weed in my system protected me.

Oh trust me, you'll be bothered if you get the flu (any flu). And yes, healthy people have died in Europe, just not a lot.
