Fair point, but gerrard's points seem to be bunched together in a run of games.. whereas lampard is a consistent scorer of points every week.

Over the season they are pretty much equal, but we all know that winning is about having the form players in the team every week.

Over the past 3 seasons they are actually like for like.

Lampard 33 goals in PL (577 fantasy points)
Gerrard 34 goals in PL (596 fantasy points)

Would they naturally not appear more bunched together due to the fact that Gerrard played nearly 20% less football that Lampard and only scored 5% less points.

It's obviously a difficult choice but I think Gerrard makes slightly more sense at the moment. For the moment, the only real reason that I am considering choosing Lampard over Gerrard is down to the fact that I have Torres and would prefer to spread the risk a bit between the top clubs.

Thats not true - as another user posted Lampard was injured for long periods in the 07/08 season. I dont know where you getting your facts with Gerrard having played less than 20% more football. Do a wiki on both players and you will see that in the past seasons.....
    Gerrard - 100 games
    Lampard - 98 games

Both players are as good as each other if u ask me! I tend to favour Gerrard this season just because he'l be playing more up front

What? I think you have misunderstood something. I wasn't talking about the last 3 seasons. I was talking about the amount of minutes player last season. Go up a few posts and you should be able to clear it up.

    changed my team... again...

    1: Given

    2: Ashely Cole
    3: Evra
    4: Bridge

    5: Ireland
    6 Ashley Young
    7: Cattermole
    8: Fletcher
    9: Arshavin

    10: Keane
    11: Agbonlahor

    Subs:
    GK: Sorensen
    DF: Corluka
    DF: Bramble
    FW: Doyle.

now before anybody goes crazy at the bramble inclusion. his points scored for money paid ratio is in the top 3, so if he has in any way as good a season as last year he will do well, Corluka is a lot cheaper than lescott and i bumped bridge who will play every game, this lets me add Arshavin to my midfeild AND make him captain, which is always nice.

I'm thinking of dropping either Keane or Gabby for a player valued around 6 and upgrade a midfeilder.

    what ya think lads?

I like the idea of picking 3 wingbacks.. Makes quite a lot of sense.

I wouldn't be making any excuses for picking Bramble either tbh.

Not quite sure what Cattermole or Fletcher would offer in terms of points though.

Personally I would yeah. Gaby out for Beattie or something like that and use the extra 2.5 elsewhere imo (perhaps Cattermole out Lennon/Modric in?).

Yeah, thats why im thinking of downgrading the strikers and addding a more creative/goal scoring midfeild player.

Was think that with fletcher playing most games till hargreaves gets back they eh will clock up a good few points?

Also, Cattermole scored 86 last year so at 5 he isnt too bad?

I just swapped Cattermole for Dempsey, Fletcher for Modric and Keane and Gabby for Crouch and Beatie...

    So the Team is now

    1: Given

    2: Ashely Cole
    3: Evra
    4: Bridge

    5: Ireland
    6: Ashley Young

What are people making of O'Shea at 5.5? It seems a bargain, but then again can't be guaranteed he would start. United fans especially, what are your opinions? surely JOS is number one right-back at the moment and therefore 5.5 is a great price?

Now you see why I called it a "temporary" side that will "surely change" before the season starts ;)

modric is probably more points tbh...
I'm trying to make the same choice...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,664 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Essien is great but he scores quite rarely, although usually they are belters.
Modric should be better this year if used properly.
Could be a star in fact.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,332 ✭✭✭Mezcita

Ah sure, lets have both in the team.

    1: Green
    2: Corluka
    3: Baines
    4: Evra
    5: Modric
    6: Gerrard(C)
    7: Jimenez
    8: Essien
    9: Arshavin
    10: Cole
    11: Defoe

    12: Brown
    13: Zayatte
    14: Collins
    15: Bent

Jimenez could play up front for the Hammers if Ashton moves to Stoke.

    Too many left backs. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Tosic is a bit of a mind-boggling choice. There's no way he'll be regular enough to justify a place in the starting line up.

Santa Cruz is a bit of a risk with Tevez and the impending Adebayor signing - might be lots of rotation up front for City.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 289 ✭✭dublinhead

I agree, Picking any Man City forwards is a high risk move! Hughes will do well to keep them all happy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,568 ✭✭✭thewools

    As it stands so far:

    WORK IN PROGRESS

    1: Sorensen

    2: Zhirkov
    3: Hangeland
    4: Lescott
    5: Ridgewell
    6: Vidic

    7: Jimenez
    8: Kuyt
    9: Arshavin
    10: Lampard

    11: Beattie

    12: Hart
    13: Doyle
    14: Mendy
    15: Benitez

Will be looking to play a 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 formation for most of the year as it shows that strikers are not the bread earners!!!

Not sure about Zhirkov - where will he play? A.Cole wont be dropped thats for sure!! Left Wing I presume? Could be rotated with Malouda perhaps which might be bad!!

Would love to have Gerrard, Lampard and Arshavin all in the middle but decided to strengthen my defense and start Kuyt instead!!!
