Not a big fan of the bonus chips for playing malarkey. Suppose I'll get over it though :)

Well, we've had ten times a better start than last year.

On the day we opened registration last year we had one player pay their buy-in. Today we had 10 :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 938 ✭✭✭Grafter

Are there rooms available in the venue or have Boyle's block booked it?

The hotel's website is blanking me for those dates.

Also looking for clarification about the transferrability of won tickets.

Last year I was able to ship my extra won entries to Mrs etc. Boyle's website currently says non transferable.

    150 - 200

edit : probably only 100 at 6max. should read before posting.

Anyone at Boyle confirm this, roughly how many hands at 100nl 6 max is this? It's been a while since I've played on iPoker I forget how the points system works...

All sounds good, I will more than likely give this one a shot alright

Jeez, Even if I'm wrong and it's 250 hands a month

    http://www.boylesports.com/sections/poker/d.asp?show=VIPProgramme_ExplanationOverview

It's dealt, not contributed, and at the lowest level 10 cents table rake is 1 point, up to 9 points for $3 rake

I'll deffo be playing this, it was superbly organised last year.
I really enjoyed the banter at the tables with all the dutch and french guys(and gals).
This is such a unique event esp considering the buyin and I'd sincerely urge you all to play if you can.

At first I wasn't too impressed when I heard about the bonus chips thing, but since the requirements are so small it's no bother really.

Will hopefully play this year, looks great.

In a rare example of proactiveness I've just registered, may as well get it out my way as it only takes 2 minutes.

I quite like the extra chips idea, just the right amount where it's fairly easy to obtain on Boyles and enough to justify putting the effort in but not enough so that it's stupidly unfair to anyone who doesn't do it.

I suppose it's also worth saying well done on making this a success and a regular event on Irish calendar. No easy feat.

I will let Ciarán come on to answer questions about transferring tickets but knowing the team in there they will do anything they can to make sure players are happy.

The hotel is block booked by Boylepoker for satellite winners, VIP's etc....The best thing I can suggest at this stage is to book into the Skylon Hotel, its about 300 mtrs away from the Regency.

No betting with BCB :), 1,300 is not really the max. We are going to go bigger and better but not by much so the message to everyone is to book as soon as possible.

Residents bar serves through the night and cash games will be able to go no into the early hours this year on each of the three days.

Ciarán has confirmed that its there or thereabouts on the Poker Show there last night and on Blonde's forum (I'm sure he'll be back on here shortly)...It really depends on whether you are on an action table or not as rake is divided amongst all players at any given table on iPoker.

Cheers for everything Rob, you were a big help getting this tournament off the ground in the early days too.

Playing 35 mins at a 10/20 cent omaha (have now got 34 Vip points) and 10/20 no limit table (24 points). At this rate, 5 hours of play at 1 table per month will get you 250 points

    No-Limit Texas Hold'em
    Starting Stack; 8,000 Chips
Bonus 2,000 Starting Chips; Play on BoylePoker.com in August and earn 250 VIP (not very many at all) and you will get an extra 1,000 starting chips in the IPO. Repeat this task in September and receive a further 1,000 starting chips.

I have to say, I really, really, really don't like this part. This imo is a worse structure than last year as a result and will make me think twice about playing the event.

However, can you clarify, must you register and then earn 250 VIP points in August & Sept or can you earn the points first and then register?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 54 ✭✭ShadowBJ21

The FAQ Section for the IPO on the Boyle Website says:

What if I only register for the IPO at the last minute? Am I entitled to the 2,000 extra chips?

The extra chips will be awarded retrospectively. If you have played with Boylepoker during the months of August and September, and you have accumulated 250 VIP Club Points in each month, you will receive 1,000 extra chips for each month. If you only accumulate 250 VIP club points in one of the two months you will only receive 1,000 chips.

So it doesn't matter when you register. It is only important to make 250 points in August and another 250 points in September.

Did Boyle's do the same thing last year, block book all the rooms? Bit frustrating that the guys who will be making this tournament, i.e. the players, have been extradited from the hotel where it's being played! Unless I've got the wrong end of the stick here.

However I did just ring them and they said they were fully booked for the Friday but did have rooms for the Sat and Sun?

Matt ran up 250 iPoints on the Poker SHow last night playing about 200 hands at 25c 50c. So depending on the game your in I would say approx 100 hands

Will it not be a bit of a nightmare to have the correct chips in each seat for the start of play?
