Ah, to be fair, he probably meant to serve you Wall's Romantica but only had the Vienetta left. These things happen!

Sean O Connors(Bia na Dia) is the place to be!
Great authentic food, reasonable prices and Sean himself makes it his business to personally meet the customers at least once throughout the meal, and he is a great laugh.

    Never a bad experience there!

Where abouts is this place?. I'm not from Clare myself but I am trying to get the in-laws to try other places to eat out anytime I visit.

Market Square, across from Xtravision, under the arch on the right hand side, if you are coming from Parnell street, under the arch on the left hand side

Welcome to boards. Have you tried the shill yet?

Four smileys in one paragraph smacks of desperation.

Top tip for shills: if you're going to write a review of your own business mix in a few negative comments like you couldn't find a parking space or something for added authenticity.

Ha!! Would nearly put you off going there!!

Sean O' Connors is a great little restaurant. Had dinner in the thai restaurant in Merchants square other week. Cant remember the name of place. Starters weren't great but nice main courses. Reasonable too

Have to say that REMIX kebabs and pizzas are A1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,530 ✭✭✭CptSternn

REMIX isn't bad but their prices suck. €22.00 for a pizza? Also, has anyone noticed how they robbed the Dominos menu? Its the EXACT same menu with the EXACT same layout, they just changed the names a small bit and made it green instead of blue.

The prices at Dominos also suck (they are the same as remix).

In New York you can get a proper large 24 inch pizza for $9.99. Paying €22+ for a 14 inch pizza that really isn't all that is a joke.

I like Apaches large pizza, it has a good size, and if you collect it the price isn't so bad either.

Then again, I wouldn't rate any of the above listed places as good places to 'eat-out' at.

I thought long and hard about this one too and can surmise it's an alcoholic who runs a restaurant?

    Answers on a postcard.

Seasons 52 above Charlie Stewarts is unreal, quite dear though. It's totally worth it though.

Also, the Fig Tree Restaurant in the Golf club in Dromoland Castle. It's simply amazing. I know it's not technically in Ennis, but it's well worth the drive out.

any been to coco restraunt or the indian over xrtavision?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 798 ✭✭✭maiden

OMG thats gas, i used love going to julianos but one evening went in, got my main course which was lasangne. it came out with no meat in it so i sent it back and was told thats the way it is made in italy. i just started laughing!! i would have been a fairly regular customer but thatwas the last time i went there.

Cocos, amazing value for the early bird, three courses for 16.50 and they do not give smaller portions. wouldnt go after early bird finishes. beautiful restaurant.

The Mogul [over Xtra Vision] is spot on. Food is lovely there. Have only sat in there once and really enjoyed it. Have gotten takeways 3 or 4 times and never had a complaint either.

I thought the food in CoCo was quite bland when I was there. Would have been more of a fan of The Jasmine Palace when it was there.

I'd be interested to hear about the Indian above Xtra Vision too. Where's the best place in town for Indian food do you think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 123 ✭✭missbaker

So, where to for dinner this evening? Its just me, so thinking takeaway. . . :)

Yeah I'm a big fan of the Mogul indian takeaway above Xtravision (and getting bigger each time i go :D ) I usually go for chicken dopiaza- Quality! Staff are pretty friendly there too, I landed in there for a takeaway last christmas and they gave me a beer on the house!! Pretty sound of them!! Trying to cut back on the takeaways at the mo though so havent gone in a while. Never eaten in the restaurant, looks nice though.

We stayed in the Woodstock hotel recently and they have a fantastic Indian menu. We have eaten quite a bit in a number of Indian restaurants and this is up there with the best of them. We ate quite a few meals from the menu and they were all great.

We liked the Sicilian in town also and the Abbey Tavern in Quin.

If you fancy a little drive. Fanny O'Deas Lissycasey ...best steak in town and great value even when you factor in the drive :)

+1. The Mogul is great, their chicken jalfrezi is fantastic. I go there quite regularly and really like the relaxed atmosphere. Nice food, really reasonable prices, staff are friendly, and no problem to bring kids. It's the best Indian I've had in Ennis, although the one on Carmody St (beside the Youth Centre) is not bad either (but less atmosphere).

I was there over the weekend and found it quite expensive, Eur 20-27 for a main course..... quite a bit in these times, that's probably why it was only 25% full!
