    Guys,

    Just bought a spares vehicle up in the north and need to transport it down to kildare.

    I've been quoted too much from a recovery crowd and so i looking to hire a trailer to bring it down myself.

    Any recommendations of a location to hire form, between naas and dublin.

    Thanks
    Landy

    I got a huge transporter trailer from Mr Hire in rathmines for 60 quid for saturday to monday a few months ago. It was 7 foot 2 inches wide in the load area, big enough for anything. They have a couple of smaller sizes too.

    Do you have the name of the hire company in Baltinglass? and would the trailer take a large car/people carrier?

    Hi,

    Just to say thanks for all the ideas on this. Eneded up with Haven hire in Celbridge. Little more expensive,but one big trailer, with hand winch.
    I was able to collect my new Land Rover classic on Saturday

    Make sure anyone towing cars hold an EB license, cops come down heavy with cars towing cars on trailers particularly if there is any rallies on at the time. Know a few that got done.

    You may also need an EC1 if the gross train weight is over a certain amount, not sure what it is but I've heard of 4x4's and horse boxes being done and the EB was not correct.

    Just to clarify something here;

    If you hold a category B licence and wish to tow a trailer you may do so provided –
    (1) the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the drawing vehicle and the combination does not exceed 3500 kg or
    (2) the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer does not exceed 750 kg.
    If you wish to tow a heavier trailer you must hold a category EB licence.
