    Hi all

Does anyone have any details/info as to how you arrange to have a catholic priest perform a blessing of our marraige?

We are getting married in a civil ceremony in Dublin and are looking to receive a blessing.

Ive asked the GRO and they have basically said its down to the individual priest but they dont have a list of priests who will perform blessings.

Asked the local parish priest and he wanted to know why we werent getting married in a church and was very unhelpfull .

Couldnt understand hiS sttitude as he is on the list of registered solemnisers , till I found out that the list is made up of priests nominated by the parish etc , its not actually a list of priests who want to perform the various duties of blessings etc .

    any help would be apprecaited!!

From what I hear this could be the attitude you encounter from a lot of priests, apparently it can be quite awkward to get a blessing because you'll have to explain why you're just not having the whole thing in the church.

Do you know anyone who would be on good terms with a priest? If so, maybe they could put you in touch with the priest and you could ask them. They might do it as a favour to you. I know a guy who got the blessing, but he was actually friends with the priest, so the situation was different.
