Battening - Timber vs Steel

    Was talking to a chippie friend of mine today and he asked if I was going with steel or timber for the battening. I replied "ya wha?"

    So my question is - why would you choose one over the other?

    I went with Precast Slab at first floor level btw.

    i take it youre talking about how you will hang your ceilings??

    metal rails for me... all the time.. (budget permitting of course)...

    If you mean for your walls, stud partitions etc; one of the best reasons for metal is the handballing. The metal lengths are easier to move about. No shrinkage worries so less likely to move at joints and corners etc.
