Newbie Sat question : Sky and FTA on one dish ?

Hi all. I am a complete newbie at the sat and free to air stuff and would like to know the following.

I am thinking of switching from NTL to Sky.

Can I get an octo lnb dish and have 1-2 freeview boxes as well as my sky box of it.

I dont have phone line so that rules out sky multiroom, hence looking at free view for other rooms.

Any help is much appreciated

You sure can. I have 2 Sky receivers running one is a HD box and I also have 3 FTA receivers running from mine.

Cheers mate. Thats great to know. Does anyone know if i can specify that id want an octo lnb dish from sky or should i look at an independant installer.

Depending on what you are subscribing to with Sky that will determine what LNB you get. If its just a standalone Sky sub, then you will get a single LNB, if its Sky+, then you will get a quad. Very unlikely you will get a octo from them.

Octo's can be purchased separately though and easily switched over to

Or you can use a Quad or Quattro and a 16 way multiswitch for less weight/cables on arm, only 4 cables to house and up to 16 feeds. Multiswitch systems can be extend to drive nearly 1000 receivers.
