    Hi :)

I bought a second hand DSLite but am only getting about 2.5/3 hours out of a charge...............on average how long should I expect to get?

The shop I bought it from gives a 12 month warranty so I will talk to them about it if its a significantly shorter battery use than I should be getting.

    Thanks

The rechargeable batteries on all products get shorter every time it's used. I'd say you got a well used console and should consider getting a new battery if it's bothering you.

I'm still getting about 7/8 hours out of mine, and it's almost two years old now. However, I usually play with the lowest backlight setting, or the (one directly above it) because I notice that at first I was only getting about 3 hours out of my brand new DS lite; so watch the backlight!

If you have the backlight on the lowest setting, then I agree with Retro a new battery may be in order.

Also if 8 hours, is troubling you, it's possible to get much bigger batteries for the lite (non-official though) that last much longer. The downside is that they usually they take alot longer to charge, and I think they'd make you're warranty void.

    Hope this Helps.:)

It only dawned on me today, I have a slot 2 device in so that is probably eating into the charge too so I may not have a problem after all. I will run a test and see what kind of time I get out of it without the slot 2 card.

    Thanks for your replies :)

well here's a range of values I found over the Internet. Maybe a new battery is really called for:

    lowest brightness setting- 14-18 hours
    2nd brightness setting- 10-12 hours
    3rd brightness setting- 6-8 hours
    highest brightness setting- 4-7 hours

The backlight can make that much of a difference to battery life?
Sounds a bit much to me.

Mine is still getting 6 hrs or more after a couple of years. Brightness used depends on the situation.
