    Correct me if I'm wrong, as I haven't been paying too much attention to the case, but did she admit she made it up the next morning, when she realised what she'd done and that it could potentially ruin another persons life, or did she keep quiet to save face?

    Apparently she fessed up after a senior guard told her that her previous false allegation would be made known in court and probably informed her of the consequences if this was found out to be a second false allegation. So basically she did it to save face/try and stay out of jail

    In that case, she should be sent to jail. She has no excuse whatsoever. As Darko said, yes, all the publicity is only because of her job, as she has a duty to uphold and a responsibility to the public. She abused that power because "the taxi driver threw her a funny look" and almost ruined his life. If it went to court, regardless of how much evidence there was, who do you think the courts would have believed, a bangarda or a taxi driver?

    Its bullsh*t. Lock her up for the maximum possible time.
