Hi, I think the starter motor is gone on the car. Do I just ring Joe Duffy BMW garage to tow it to them & get it fixed at extortionate prices or do you guys have any suggestions?

    All recommendations appreciated!

    Thanks.

First off, what makes you think the starter motor needs replacing?

There's power in the battery, the engine just ticks repeatedly when turning the ignition. Point is I can't tow it to the garage, what's the best plan!

Sounds to me as though the battery has enough power to engage the starter solenoid but not to turn the engine over. The best plan is to either charge the battery or jump/push start it. If it happens again (and you're sure you haven't left anything on), replace the battery.

Agreed. Hook up a booster pack to the battery. If it fires up normally replace the battery.
