I wonder if someone can help me!

We just bought a Samsung series 5 TV. I stuck our old antenna in the back and the TV can pick up RTE1, RTE2 and TG4. No sign of TV3!

Anyone know if this is normal? There is a manual setup but I don't know where TV3 is. There is no option to choose VHF, UHF etc...

Anyone know what to do?! We had TV3 here on our 10 year old TV!

    Thanks

    A

First off I am presuming that the model samsung you are using is a LE32A559 and that you are trying to tune in analogue reception rather than DTT (I dont think your LCD is compatible with DTT anyhow) and that there are VHF and UHF Tuner on it.

Try tuning to the Three Rock frequency listed and if that doesnt work try the fill in transmitter frequencies (I think there are 2 listed for wicklow)

    RTE Transmission Frequecies.

Check which frequency you are getting RTÉ from, there are a few relays in Wicklow that do not carry TV3, like ashford, Greystones etc

    Thanks for the replies!

We bought an external aerial in woodies yesterday and I connected it up to the TV. At the moment its just sitting on a table in the Patio but I can get RTE1, RTE2, TV3 and TG4. The reception is good, but not great.

So later, when I get home from work, I am thinking about attaching it to a pole on the chimney. I dont have the model of the aerial with me but its about 5 foot long with 6 inch bars along its length.

Anyone know which direction this should face?!

    Thanks

OK, just put the aerial on the roof. The TV has automatically found all the terrestrial channels on digital. Image is crystal clear. Result!!

Now just waiting for the sat4free guy to install the dish...
