    No big deal just drive car to vrt office in your area and they look after it from there. I bought a 02 c class mercedes last week for 4500 euros.Now will conterdict asking vrt price as they go by the open book value dwn here. Open book says value is 12,000 euros but average price in garage is 10,000. so I dont know where they get there open price from Just another way goverment trying to squeeze u for ur last penny

    There's a VRT calculator on www.revenue.ie - will tell you exactly how much VRT you'll have to pay.

    The process is very simple - turn up at your local VRO with the car and associated paper work and some $$$. Once you pay they'll give you your new reg # for you to go off and get your new plates made.

    Note: If you were buying a car under 4 years old then you may get hit for VRT on any extras on the car but as the car you're looking at is > 4 yo you won't need to worry about that.
