That's not a mispelling, right I went to collect my rent allowance and the post office I collect it at is at the back of a newsagents so when I went to queue there was a peice of paper stuck to the glass saying "No money until 2:15 pm" so fair enough I got out of the queue. I needed milk so grabbed some from the fridge and was paying at the shop counter when these 3 guys in motor bike helmets ran in stouting "NOBODY MOVE, NOBODY MOVE", one had a shotgun, one had a baseball bat and one just stood blocking the main door. So the one with the shotgun went straight to the door at the back that lets them into the post office part and pointed the gun at it and the one with the base ball bat started hitting the glass screaming at the guy behind it "OPEN THE ****ING DOOR!". Now everybody in the shop is ****ting bricks but then doesn't the guy behind the glass just point at the peice of paper stuck there and shrug. It was the most epically surreal moment I've ever seen, they just looked at each other and the guy with the bat said "****!" and they ran out the door. I really hope someone gets a copy of the security camera tapes and youTubes it :D

Lauging at these poor down on their luck (non-scumbag, non-knackers) gentlemen who lost out on a job today.

Sounds like someone has a bad case of (s)Nobbery.

I'm surprised that they didn't join the queue after that and wait for 2.15.

Don't go back to that Post Office at 2:15 p.m.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,584 ✭✭✭PCPhoto

wait till after 2.15 .... and we'll see if its a nobbery or a robbery !!!

given the original post its likely they will be stupid enough to return and attempt it again.

Aaaah a bit of sympathody for the 3 lads. I mean they probably had to take a half day off work and they were stuck wearing those helmets in this heat. Not to mention the cost of renting the shotgun. I think we should have a whipround for them.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Good thing they could read! You're obviously dealing with a "better" class of criminal there.

Reminds me of a time years ago I was in the TSB in Stillorgan. I was talking over the counter to one of the tellers when someone shouted "Look out!" and with that a steel shutter shot up out of the counter to the ceiling, completely closing off the staff from the public area, leaving me on my own there.

I looked around to see three balaclaved bandidos standing in the door - I though "f**k, they'll probably take my wallet as a consolation prize". Luckily for me they just turned and ran. I gave it a minute and then tapped on the shutter, saying "It's alright, they're gone now . . . "

Sounds like something out of snatch or something.

In Wicklow last year, Heard all this shouting outside the window by the post office. So I stuck my head out and saw a car down below being rev'd and the driver shouting "c'mon, c'mon". I grabbed my phone and snapped this picture as they came out with a bag of cash, you make out a handgun in the stripey top guy's right hand.

In the city centre, I don't want to be specific because it's where I live. I really hope the camera footage get's on the news tonight as one of those "Let's all laugh at these twats" stories. I can just imagine them planning this and targeting a day where they knew there'd be money there (Rent allowance, dole, lone parents and pensions) and just to fail like that. They are probably crying into their pints as we speak :D

Butterfly baby is the real hero here, instead of waiting around for the garda to arrive and provide descriptions, she rushed back to post on AH.

Garda will be looking for a witness statement unless she has already given one

I will give a statement, I live next door to the shop and the shop keeper knows me so it won't be a hard stretch for them to knock on my door.
