Reading dynamic disks with XP Home

Right, I have XP Home. I have a hard drive in an external enclosure that's formated as a dynamic disk. XP Home can't read it but will allow me to convert it to a basic disk. The problem here is that I will lose my data.

Is there any way to convert but keep my data without using a Windows 2000 or XP Pro machine?

Googling would suggest there really isn't .. but Boardsies know better .. rights? :)

    Thanks

If there are two dynamic partions on the hard drive there is a hack to turn them back into basic volumes by using a hex editor, but You would loose all info on the second dynamic partion and save the first. If this hard drive was added dynamically to another then You could be in luck, I'll dig out the hack.

I learned the hard way (700GB of Media  lucky I had a friend with a backup), I now do all my resizing with gparted. Fcuk M$ for adding this stupid feature, its not needed and causes more problems than its worth

    Edit: here

This works and it can be hacked back to dynamic by reversing the method as well
