As the title suggests, my Rover 45 is due to get it's timing belt changed soon. Has anyone got any ideas on roughly how much I should be paying for this? I'd like to know what to expect when I phone a few garages.

Also, I've been told that the timing belt should be changed every 50k miles, or every 5 years, whichever comes first. Can anyone verify that for me?

    Thanks a mil. :)

The price will vary whether you get it changed by an independant garage or former main dealer. A back street mechanic will probably be the cheapest. My guess would be between €300 and €350 from an independant garage, possibly cheaper. Just make sure to shop around for the best price.

Just remember that it is probably wise to have the water pump changed also at the same time as it is located near the timing belt. It saves yourself time and money having it changed seperately later.
