Great running guys 'n gals, well done.

The Bulleting Boards had a bit of a misfire out of the barrel, but soon picked up speed:
Earlyevening showed why his moniker isn't Earlymorning, and had a bit of bad luck in taking a wrong turn. He finished, but we were at the end ofthings and had to start playing catchup.
Magnet ran a blinder, making up vital minutes, which allowed...
Woddle to catch 4 teams on a short leg,
Hunnymonster had a great leg across slow wet terrain,
Slogger Jogger had a bloody blinder,
    donothoponpop ditto:D,
Daithi BC ran best of us all, one of the fastest for his leg,
Beepbeep67 made up loads of places, and just ran out of track,
to leave us 12th out of 34.:)

I did legs 1 & 2. Was running bang on schedule for leg one. Got into Curtlestown, ran through the crowd and turned left. Yes you read that correctly, LEFT!!!!

I use the run from Enniskerry back to Terenure with the WW section from Curtlestown back as a training route sometimes and it was a reflex action to take that turn and not the correct way. Ended up putting 3.5 k or so onto my run and losing 19 minutes for the team. We were never gonna be contenders but the runners behind me could have done without that cock up!

Some pretty mouldy conditions out there but despite that and my cock up enjoyed the run. I'll be back year to try make up for my error and improve on the time.

Tough break Jeff, that was me in Magnet that you were talking to when you came back(annoyed at yourself). Well done on not giving up, I think I got one pic of you also.

Putting my pictures up now, couple of good ones and a couple of crap ones but I just threw them in.

Where do I sign up for next year. Really enjoyed it, the comeback specialists. Coming from 33rd/34th to finish 12th was a magical feeling. It was just fantastic, I had a bit of a McGyver fall going downhill, what I mean is I fell, then thumbled and straight back into my running form. The finish by beepbeep was just class, well done everyone on excellent team and individual performances and well done Clonliffe on your win despite getting lost for 10 minutes :D I reckon every team will have some kind of story and I look forward to reading about them but I think our story has a great message in it and thats never give up ;):D

You know just the right way to say things! EE, if you're reading this, you came back and finished, you didn't give up, and we got a 12th!:D

Nice one Woddle, you'd get a job as a motivational speaker, only I know you have a career in diagonal field-crossing in mind;)

I can't remember recce'ing that field in a diagonal direction ;). You train to do what you will do come the race...

I probably made it sound worse than it was :D as I'm prone to doing, as I got to the field I should have gone right but went left  but then I saw a runner and went through the long grass to catch her (which I did) but it felt like I was running through the long grass(getting my feet soaked) forever.
    Pictures nearly done.

The Wicklow way relay is always a running highlight for me! Even the rubbish weather today couldn't spoil the brilliant atmosphere! After my worst ever hill race in corrig on wednesday night (48th place, anything lower than 20th and I'm not a happy camper :)), I wasn't feeling very confident, leg 6 has two tough climbs and is considerably longer than corrig! I set off gingerly enough, not wanting to blow up, but got into the rythum of things soon, and despite the wind and rain the run seemed to fly by, I was hitting marks sooner than I though, and feeling very good at 1/2 way, having picked off 4 other runners.

Mick (SJ) was a great help at about 3/4 of the way in, when he saw me and pointed out that another runner was just 2mins up the road. I tore off in full confidence that I could pick him off, but it wasnt as easy as i thought, took me ages to catch up, by which stage I was wrecked. I had noticed that yourmans downhilling was very good and leg6 ends on a downhill, so I had to push on not to let him come back at me. I could hear him behind me for a good bit and wasnt sure how close he was, but experance has thought me never ever ever to look back, purely for the mental boost it gives the runner behind :D. So I pushed on like crazy knowing I couldnt be more than 5mins from the end, and all downhill ahead. The final decent was insanely tough, i just kept the legs turning, going as fast as I physically could bouncing off rocks and stones just waiting to trip up and cream myself, but thankfully the finish came just before I stumble over the line with not an ounce more of energy to give. Yeh this is why its always a highlight of my running calender!

Didn't even bring a watch with me, but I'm hoping I was under the hour anyways!

48th! Must be some mistake. And I missed that race. What an opportunity (missed).

Well put Timmaay. I think that the atmosphere in this race is brilliant. One of the reasons is being part of a team - running can be a lonely place sometimes - plus with logistics needed on the day the extra effort made is always rewarded.

I imagine doing the maths for the results data is going to take a while, any idea when results are expected. Earlyevening where did you read the leg 1 results?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,441 ✭✭✭Slogger Jogger

Provisional results being added here, leg by leg:

legs 1-5 times up, as of 19.30 Sun eve. Can't for the life of me think why RD isn't devoting the rest of his evening to MY leg times... so selfish this IMRA lot...;)

Anyway Woddle, you ran 6th fastest out of 34 runners for your leg! It may have "only" been a chick leg, but you still whipped their ass's!! Well done:D

Makes for interesting reading. Well done SJ on 5th fastest over your leg, I'm quite happy with my 6th place :D

    1-6 times are up.

Like I said in the other group, (the social board thing) my detour cost us 39mins so I'm keen to see the final results to see what could have been if we got the 39mins back.
