You're steering way off the point here. Just because other money has been blown doesn't mean another million should be. What's your point?

I'm not saying because our government wastes millions each year, that this particular screw up is ok... but in the grand scheme of things, its a million.
In comparison to what they have to spend each year, its a very small percentage..

The man made a mistake...big deal. Everyone makes mistakes, even God......just look at Mary Hearney!

Dont know if anyone else has seen it yet, but they have a picture of the alleged cause of the c*ck up regarding the Leaving Certificate English Paper 2.
Head line in effect that he has cost us and the government €1million .
Does anyone else think this is a bit f*cking much from The Sun??
    I mean:
The man is a 66 year old retired Teacher, supervising the Leaving cert Exams for some extra cash.
I presume the man has a wife and family.
He hasnt killed or murdered anyone.
He hasn't raped or abused anyone.
he made a Human error, simple as that.
I think its bloody disgraceful on behalf of The Sun.
Real criminals can't be named and shamed in society...
    Rant over.
    Any thoughts ???

    Yea, your dead right.

Jeeze, the government waste 110,000 quid A DAY in their additional expenses.
9 days of them laying off perking themselves and this problem is solved!

This man made one mistake, right it cost money but it was ONE mistake!
How much has ALL our government mistakes cost us and why isn't the dirt rag Sun going on about them just as much!

LEAVE THE MAN ALONE YA RAG SUN SCUMBAGS!

But there's not exactly a whole lot of money to go around at the moment. Just because it's 'only' a million euro doesn't make it okay.

It's totally unfair of that rag to go after this guy. It is a public interest story
but it doesn't serve anyone except the owners to publish a photo of him.
He didn't wake up Wednesday and decide to have his little fun, cost us €1m.
It had to be spent to protect the integrity of the state exams and sure who's it
going to anyway - Bus Eireann, An Post, PAYE, PRSI, random levy etc.

Well doesnt really matter or not if you think its ok.
The poor old man made a simple mistake. The 1 million is going to have to be spent on the required reorg.Sorry if the tax you paid in the last month makes up a large amount of this.

    1 million, big deal.

For the record I'm not sticking up for the man, although I don't agree he should have been named and shamed either.

Early comments over on the Leaving Cert forum suggest that the paper was relatively easy so it doesn't really matter what this guy did now.

There'd have been killings had it been made more difficult.

It was a mistake, but that isn't the issue.

He covered up what he did, and in doing so caused huge problems for people up and down the country.

Why on earth do people buy the 'Irish' sun?
They're even boycotted in parts of britain.

I must have missed that tit-bit. I thought he brought the matter to the attention of the Irish examining board. At least thats what I read from other reports.

Seriously, who or what reported that he covered it up (and have they proof or just tabloid sensationalism masked)!

There boycotted in Britain for the Crap they wrote about the Hillsborough disaster..No one in Liverpool buys it.
He cover it up, liek every other Irish person would have.. big f*ckin swing.
Anyone in that situation would have covered their tracks also.
The students in question who seen the papers if they had any bloody sense between the lot of them they would have kept their mouth shut. And their the future of this country.

I'm pretty sure he reported it, but not until late in the afternoon, when it was too late.

It was in the Indepdent aswell. His picture and what school he used to teach in.Mentioned he lived in Dundalk as well.Very poor form I thought.I mean he's an old man,I would say he is stressed out already enough as it is,he doesnt need his picture and personal details plastered over the paper.

I have as much faith in a Sun newspaper report as in a dose of diarrhoea being good for me!
I'm also surprised at the independent. Especially on a day when the government might be devastated in the polls.

That paper is only a rag, the lowest of the low amongst the red tops.

No argument there! Only thing it's good for is wiping my backside with and even then if only desperate.

To be honest, call me a snob but I'd be ashamed to be even seen reading the Sun!

These Sun complaints are null now seeing as the Independent ran the story also.

calling all vermon who have ever stooped to the murky levels of ever having bought or read the Sun, and also to the sleaze bag who published the headline article that has shown this poor man in bad light,
may the Devil use your backbone as a ladder when he picks apples in the garden of Hell,

the sun is not fit for toilet paper

Not necessarily, it just means that the Independent has slipped in its (whatever) journalistic standards it (might have) had.
A big sad day for the Independent and its integrity. I had thought more of it till now.

The Sun however is a consistent, perpetual rag equivalent to something always scraping the bottom of a barrel anyway and deserves the dis-like it gains.

Pathetic journalism, absolute fcuking gutter journalism. It's nothing but a rag anyway.

Op was spot on - the man has a family and it could have happened to anyone. Jesus, the poor fella, talk about going over the top. €1m is going to make **** all difference to the taxpayer after already bailing out the banks for billions.
