Best Remake or Cover Version

There hasn't been an original film in years, and there always plenty of musical cover versions. Usually they are ****e, but a friend recently pointed this out to me:

Cash covering a classic Nine Inch Nails track. Far, far better than the original. What film remakes or song covers have you found to be better?

Hmm.. I don't know OP, re songs I do know that some artists once they have recorded a song it is theirs no matter who covers it.
The Beatles, Meatloaf and The Rat Pack to mention a few.

In those cases once you have heard the original you won't go buying another version.

The exception being Rod Stewart as he can sing anything and make it sound sexy.

Pendulum did a crunching version of "Voodoo People" by Prodigy that to me is better than the original, though i am sure many people would disagree with.

Also, pretty much anything that Jacques Lu Conte has ever touched has ended up being vastly superior to the original song.

A fair point, but in the case of There will be blood, the book and the film hold only loose similarities-the character names are different, the character in the film being particularly sociopathic... There's much more to the film.
