Ah. It sucks for them. Since they've been very little, they've had people telling them the Leaving Cert is the be-all and end-all of their whole lives.

Soon as the exams start, the sun comes out of nowhere, and they get to look at it from their desks. Then the exact paper they were waiting on gets leaked, so they have to start from scratch on the entire English course, because they've been taught to reel off the answers by rote rather than to understand the texts in the first place.

I remember one of my English teachers giving out to me for thinking too much. It was depressing.

They're not looking on the bright side. If they can't have that paper, they also can't have those questions. In effect, they now know what won't be on the next exam, cutting out half the wasted study. They need to stop whining and start looking at things the right way.

God help them when they get to college and have to write a thesis if they can't handle a slightly modified English exam.

    Whats a Thesis?

They don't know it's not a big deal, is all I mean.

From listening to their teachers, they think they've got two options:

    a) Get squintimillion points, resulting special commendation from the President, and Congressional Medal of Honour For Services To English.

    or

    b) Be homeless crack addicts living on the Liffey boardwalk. By September.

I was wondering why I seen so many cardboard signs saying "Reserved for..." along there.

I remember my history teacher telling me that if I didn't " buck up" for my leaving, I'd end up in some dead end career....and of all the things he could of said what did he say......

    ......Retail.........

I would have thought being a teacher a horrendous job...

Pick the right subjects and being a teacher is handy. Sure, you have to deal with kids all day, and there's a shedload of paperwork and the like to do, but there's perks.
A good friend of mine is a teacher and she's off to the US for the next two and a bit months for a road trip once the summer holidays start. Last year she spent six or seven weeks in Canada. A cousin of mine, also a primary school teacher, is off to Dubai for three weeks, then Thailand for one and Australia for four.
I'm half thinking of a career change...

OMG. Microsoft are about to kick some ass.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8078322.stm

And Peter Molyneux is a living legend in regards to computer games. Put these two together, and you're gonna get something amazing.

Was watching E3 show over the weekend and that demo was absolutely amazing.

I remember first playing the WII and being so dissapointed with how slow or non responsive it was to my movements.

Watch the E3 display of some martial arts guys fighting each other, and it literally hapening on screen, it is ****ing amazing.

This is definately the future, imagine it now, not only are we saps that dress up as soldiers at the weekend, we will now be jumping behind couches shouting " covering fire!!!!"

This obviously opens doors to have your airsoft kit "scanned" into call of duty etc.

Seemingly this piece of kit is going to be pretty pricey though, and it hasnt been confirmed or not whether it requires and actual xbox console hardware update.

Lol I heard someone mixed up the shipping and some schools dont even have the english paper 2 yet. The most important test of their life <cough>bull****<cough> and people are making such silly mistakes!

Ah the people who freakout, when will they learn. I was going to go to a house party with my brothers band halfway through my leaving cert, but didnt because I was too tired. I regret that decision!

3D glasses? Sounds like a step backwards in terms of PC gameing....nice to see the console world moving through the late 90's.

This leaving Cert malark is great.

Apparently i'm meant to be stressed to the max, but i think it's great.

First off, everyone is having a heart attack so hopefully they'll do **** but this means i now know what's not coming up, i have an extra day study and also they're going to go well easy on the marking of it.

And apparently they'll be releasing "study guidelines" for it.
