    Hi,
A friend of mine is heading to the US soon. He asked me whether his Irish laptop (with Irish power supply) will work over there.
I believe it wont as they run at a different voltage.
Would it work at all, even if he got a US power supply or is there some kind of a converter that can be used?
    Any help appreciated.
    Kippy

Mods, please move if there is a better forum than this for this query.

Most will. Check the voltage on the charger.

If it's something like "AC 100 - 240v" you will be fine.

Only the plug is different. Use an adapter and you should be fine. Any charger i know of is 100-240 V as stated already.

they use 110V in the US

most laptops should be OK , but check before you go
desktops have a switch, and if set to the wrong voltage may kill the PSU :(
