Probability: Random variables and expected values??? need help..

Hey I know this is a long shot but cant seem to get my head around rv's and expected values, am stuck on a problem sheet. Have test on Monday and was wondering is there any mathematicians out there that could help me out?? I could send you example of problem Im looking at... Any help would be much appreciated....
