Why? I went to see the new Star Trek on my own last Friday and no one said anything about it. I'm planning on going to see either Angels and Demons or Star Trek again tonight and I'm going on my own. Nothing weird in it as far as I can see.

This was over 10 years ago. It was one of the older Star Trek films, and at that age kids will slag each other about anything I suppose!

    depends.

I went to war of the worlds on my own cause my friend cancelled on me and I really wanted to see the movie. That's independant.

However when I went to see high school musical 3 with friends and there was a man in the corner by himself that's sad...........and weird :) I also know of a late twenties guy who went to see the hannah montana movie, by himself.

Is it possible that they could have been reveiwing these movies for:

    1. College Assignment
    2. Newspaper
    3. Magazine
    4. Internet news/forum etc.
    5. Checking suitability before allowing their own kids to see the film

More than likely though they were just freaks!

I missed the piece about you being 12, kids are the meanest individuals you'll ever meet. I used to go to the cinema with some guys from school back when I was 12 but changed that once they used to spend the time making fun of me and just started going on my own.

Going it alone is fine.............not getting Nachos is SAAADDDD!!!!!

I really hate people who eat nacho's or hotdogs in the cinema, they stink the place out. Nothing more off-putting before a film.

OT: I prefer to go to the cinema on my own, no distractions makes for much better viewing

Yes, and those drinks ah, the sound of sucking liquid through a straw can really ruin a movie.

I HATE when I go to the cinema on my own and a stupid couple behind/in front of me wont stop ****ing yapping about their love for each other right thru the movie.

I was at the cinema watching jason v freddie. This acne ridden little **** 3 rows in front of me was in his naive gob****eness constantly yapping loudly.. And completely ruined the awesome powar of arousal of one of the slice and dice scenes.. I had enough, i jumped went down to his seat and told him hes going to bleed after the movie if he opened his mouth again..

he and 2 of his mates left the movie a few mins later.. I seen him a few months later in the shopping centre. I winked at him and blew him a kiss.

Went to see Road Trip in Tallaght. Two traveller though it would be great to talk on their mobiles, and threaten anyone that asked them to be quiet.

A lone security guard came into them twice to no avail. So eventually 9 members of security came in and the movie was paused, while they took their time leaving.

    It was crazy.

I love it, empty cinema during the day, few beers, legs outstretched & most importantly peace and quiet to unwind.

Beats going with an OH as ive done for the past 3yrs, paying good money to watch banal kak like 'John Tucker must die'.

Agreed. Not to mentions sometimes I often like to bring a six pack of beer into a cinema and drink the whole thing in 90mins. If certain people found out they might decide to judge me on that basis.

I must be so innocent,I had no idea people brought alcohol to the cinema. Wouldn't other people be able to smell the alcohol?

I would happily go to the cinema alone during the day but wouldn't be so comfortable about it in the evening.

About as sad as having a **** in my opinion.

Another good reason to go alone.

I'd usually go with a mate or a significant other if it was tied in with drinks/dinner afterwards, but if I'm arsing around town after college or whatever I'd go in on my own; it's not a place for socializing (contrary to widespread belief).

In saying that the f*ckers keep putting up their prices so I've decided to watch most films on tv or streaming :)

I always go to the flicks on my own for two reasons 1. I dont have to consult with anyone about what film(s) to see and 2. I like to watch two films back to back (It reminds me of my mitching school days:D) and I dont know anyone who is willing to watch two films back to back.

I prefer going to the cinema on my own.

Unless the showing is packed people generally won't sit to either side of you so you get both cup holders.

You can go at a time that suits you.

You can always go to a film you want to see.

You can sit where you want to sit.

I used to work near Screen, and my shifts used to finish at funny times. My bus (the 84, before they moved it) was near the cinema too. Sometimes the next bus wouldn't be for an hour or so, so I'd just go to the cinema.

I like going to the cinema on my own, total escapism.

what happens when you come out of the cinema and your bus isnt for another hour?

its no worse than going to a bar on your own!!
In my opinion, going to a bar alone is far more strange (I'm not talking about an auld fella who knows the barman etc) - it's a social space, unlike the cinema.
i hate when i am at the cinema and a person who is ther on thier own sits beside u.. its soo uncomfortable.. how can ya go cinema on ur own..
Don't worry. When you're an age that's considerably past 15, you'll see how it's of zero consequence to go to the cinema alone.

I only went to the cinema once when I was on my own in Florida. The man at the counter laughed at me.... that made me feel kind of sad... :(

Its no more sad than going and trying on wedding dresses when your single ... on your own.
    Now that is sad!!
I go to the cinema on my own because I have no one to go with.
    Awww cue the violins :D

Ive often thought about going to the cinema on my own, but i like the before and after social aspect of it. Chattin with mates about how our day went and what we thought of the movie after. I wouldnt think its sad at all if anyone went on their own, but personally id much rather wait for the DVD and watch it in the comfort of my own place rather than pay nearly a tenner to go by myself to the flicks to see it.

people that cant go to the cinema alone are insecure
people that can go to the cinema alone are secure, or weirdos

    im the 2nd

i think the cinema is a bad place for a date. its ok if you are 15/16. if youre goin on a group date why not just rent a cheap hostel room for the night and ride each other instead of fiddlin around in each others pants annoyin all the people who want to see the movie.

OT= 1 time a guys phone rang and he actually answered it and had a loud conversation, he finished up before i went over and had words(i prob wouldnt have, i dont like confrontation)

    or weirdos

    :D

I go to the cinema alone, most of the time.

If i wanna go see a film, i'll go to see it alone if i have to and dont care what people think about that. If i'm going with friends the only social part about the whole trip is the food before we go to cinema (apart from 2 weeks ago when one friend answered his f**king phone so we told him to shut up:mad:)

i went to see supersize me on my own, it was the first and last time i went on my sweeney, im not saying i wouldnt do it again though, i dont see anything wrong with it

I go on my own quite often and I don't think it's sad.
I have a good time with nobody distracting me, not that my friends actually do that, but I love going on my own.

I don't think anything alone is sad...except maybe getting wasted
