Transferring from one external hard-drive to another

hi i want to transfer stuff from my friends external hard-drive to my one. is there an easy way to do this? ive never used mine before so im new to external hard-drives. do i transfer the suff from his to my laptop and then to my hard drive or can i do it directly? thanks

Connect both externals to the same computer then drag and drop the files from one drive to the other and they'll be copied directly.
