best thing that that some airlines are starting to show onboard is aircrash investigation hope they dont show that on dex's flight :P

there actually specially picked to make sure there isnt anything aircraft crash-like in the onboard entertainment, cant remember what film it was but there was one pulled because it had a very slight reference to a plane crash.
Imagine the only inflight movie was "Alive". rofl., :D

A buddy of mine watched that the night before his first flight abroad and he was a basket case all the way throught the flight. It was hilarious.

The other passengers were not so happy though. He was the pilot:D

Not only do airlines avoid anything remotely aircrash related, and not only do they "edit" movies "for a family audience" :( they also dub over any reference to another airline with their own. For example, an episode of the West Wing which I saw last year had a reference to a US airline by Barak Obama's Matt Santos' character replaced with "Aer Lingus".

The cost of sh!te like that has got to be worth one person's job for a few weeks.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a mid-sized, wide-body, twin-engine jet airliner currently under development by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. It will carry between 210 and 330 passengers depending on variant and seating configuration. Boeing stated that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners and will be the first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction.[3] Boeing's development of the 787 is also innovative in the collaborative management approach with suppliers.
On January 28, 2005, the aircraft's development designation 7E7 was changed to the 787.[4] Early released concept images depicted a radical design with highly curved surfaces. On April 26, 2005, a year after the launch of the program, the final look of the external 787 design was frozen, with a less rakish nose and a more conventional tail.
Boeing featured its first 787 in a rollout ceremony on July 8, 2007, at its Everett assembly factory, by which time it had become the fastest-selling wide-body airliner in history with nearly 600 orders.[5] A total of 861 787s have been ordered by 56 customers as of April 2009.[6] Originally scheduled to enter service in May 2008, production has been delayed and it is currently scheduled to enter into service in February 2010.[7][8][9]

On May 3, 2009, the first test 787 was moved to the flight line following extensive factory testing. The tests included landing gear swings, systems integration verification, and a total run through of the first flight. Before first flight, the test aircraft must be put through additional power and systems tests, including engine run-ups. Following these and high-speed taxi tests, the maiden flight will occur. On May 4, 2009, a press report indicated that customers will face additional delivery delays of up to six months, because Boeing is not expected to reach its target production rate of 10 aircraft per month until mid-2013. On May 13th, 2009, it was announced during the roll out of the first 787 in ANA colours, that ANA is scheduled to receive the first 787 to enter commercial service in February 2010.

wiki never your friend when it comes to aviation 90% of the time being wron boeing website always better :P

I know it's not as much fun as watching you all squabbling about the accuracy (or not) of wikipedia, but I should just mention that the EI flight involved was SFO-DUB, on an A330 IIRC, in February last year. Great weekend, awesome party.

Not unless they extend the runways, Dublins aint big enough at the moment i believe.

I saw a A380 in london, there were load's of 747's, they looked big enough, then the A380 was flying in, it looked like it was kinda stuck, floating..

Then as it landed, it was huuuuge.

Not to mention the ramp and the taxiways. And if I remember correctly they may need to be strengthened too, but I read that was before the A380 was actually built. Still it would be cool to see something that size in Dublin since the AN-225 only seems to visit Shannon :(

the runway at dub is big enough and strong enough to hold it just the taxiways and stands arent. we had a big discussion bout this on the AA forum here on boards

jeez, the Antonov 225, i didnt think that was still in use. let alone landing in ireland!

that was used in the 80s to deliver iarnrod eireann's fleet of "new" rail cars from korea i believe. twas the only possible mode of transport that was capable of the job.,

if that thing can land in dublin then surely the A380 could! its even bigger than the 380,.

actually, now that were on the subject of planes, there was a weird "stubby killer" version of some sort of boeing in dublin airport a few months ago, it was like a 747 only much shorter, a proper tall yoke and really wide but a short arse., lol, whats the world coming to, even the plane makers are doing stubbys....
