That makes me feel sick and angry.

Can you post up the name of the unit?

My letter to local TDs is now written.

bloody hell thats disgraceful carry on. I used to go to blackrock years ago for my back. Had to wear a horrible back brace.
Its such a pity they are stopping this treatment as its obviously working very well .
Make as much noise about this as you can. Online petition obviously.

This f!cking country makes El Salvador look like a model utopia.

Ireland is a Basketcase, Banana Republic run for FF & their builder and banker buddies. Democracy? A modern day Kleptocracy more like.

People are dying in hospitals, being refused treatment for illnesses while bankers and builders get bail-outs at our expense.........

Sheer, Lunacy that if it wasn't so serious it would be funny.

When are the people of Ireland going to rise up and say collectively:

    'NO MORE'

Biggins, I have the utmost sympathy for your plight. I knew a girl who passed away a few years ago at 23 from CF. The facilities and treatment for CF in this country are shocking. The health system under that fat f******cking pig of a c**nt Harney is disgraceful.

Biggins, I'm genuinely sorry to read about your situation. What a horrible horrible thing your family is going through.

How about contacting Sam Smyth the Irish Independent journalist/presenter of the Sunday Supplement on Today FM? His daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and when the HSE wanted to defer building new facilities for treating patients, he went on a little mini crusade which seems to have worked.

and they have €60 million to spend on a bridge?!

Jeez Biggins, really sorry to hear about your troubles.
Your post actually shocked me, how can a developed country completely cut off a child from necessary medical care?
To be honest, if someone told me this story down the pub I probably wouldn't believe them.

Just when you think that this country can't sink any lower, it dives.

Jesus that's shocking, what a bunch of clowns we have running ruining the country...

So sorry to hear about this, Biggins. IMO online petitions won't achieve much, the newspapers, radio and tv are better options for bringing this to people's attention.

Bring this to the newspapers and force the government to back down. The government will threaten obscure life saving procedures because they are expensive to maintain and have relatively little traffic. We as a nation need to ensure that we do not become victims of geographical prejudice - I'd imagine having to go to England every two or three months would cost an arm and a leg, especially since you won't be on the NHS.

As I say, bring it to the publicity and do your best to get it heard. Ring liveline. Ring everone. Ring your TD. Write to the minister. Make yourself heard.

As many TD's, from any party, would not be aware of these sort of issues, do we have a list of TD's email addresses anywhere please

Thank you. I am going to be there.
My wife and I appreciate the many helpful suggestions so far.

We are in limbo right now. We don't know either if to cry (which we are trying not to), pull the hair out of our heads, scream with frustration and we just feel like wanting to punch someone for this.

I really am depressed right now. I look at my daughter and ask myself how do I explain this absolute shameful crime by our leaders to her, now or in a few years - with the damage made worse to her body?

We have never felt so lost as we do today in our own home.

Didn't they set up an online community thing, like bebo, a while ago where you could go and find out about all the TD's running in the Irish and European ellection. Cant remember the bloody name though

*EDIT found it, the online community was last year but I dunno what that was called, this is what I was thinking of

    http://www.micandidate.eu/default.aspx

Hope it helps. The contact info is in small writing on the left

Biggins I have read your many cheerful posts over a long time, and would never have imagined what you are going through in your private life. God man, my heart bleeds for you and your wife. I don't have any idea what I could do to support you, but I would do it at whatever the cost if I knew. All I suppose I can do is to use my vote to try to make sure that this disgraceful and almost treasonable party are dumped in the gutter along with their banker and developer mates and the the other dog s**t as soon as possible.

There is of course a way of finding the funding for treatments such as that needed for your child. It involves closing the hundreds of quangos, cutting ministers salaries by half to reflect their abilities, putting competent people in charge of government projects. Will they do that? Not a bloody chance. FF is nepotism and cronyism developed to its ultimate. The principle seems to be "I don't really care about you as long as my mates are OK"

It's a tempting thought that maybe we should set up an internet forum that provided for members to lodge messages that the forum then sends to selected ministers. Call it "The voice of the People" forum maybe?

hunger strike outside the dail and a load or boardies go with you to make some noise.

Who is you local TD's meet them at their local office.

also hitting them at the local elections is no good, its the idiots in Dublin that matter at the end of the day but at least you might get them running scared.

I have a little girl of 3 and boy of 1 and Im actually crying too thinking what a ****ty country that can do this to a defenless child.

Also for the sake of it why not everyone email the link to this thread to every TD in the country. Might add leverage to the story if it brings down the Dail server like Ray D'arcy did? Worth calling him too, he has a hatred for Harney too.

My heart goes out for you and your family. I can not believe that this country is gone so low as to affect the life of a child.

I can somewhat understand ( only mildly none can feel what ye are going through untill they are in it which I would never wish on anyone ) what ye are going through. There is a little girl in my sons class she is 6 and a half years only and has been diagnosed with a Pontine Glioma which is a highly aggressive brain stem tumour. 2 weeks ago they were told (this is an extract from his web page
    "
We also got a visitor from the ICS late in the afternoon. She informed me that we had used up our allocation of hours for a day time nurse. In fact, we had already gone far beyond our allocated hours and it was not clear if care for Jasmine at the current level (or any level) could continue! I certainly was not impressed by this news. The allocation was apparently 40 hours of night nursing after which, I presume, the patient should promptly die. Where we are thrilled with every new day that Jasmine can be with us, it seems that others are rather disappointed with her having already exceeded her allowance and the associated cost to the state. Well, the ICS better find some new funding somewhere because, if anything, Jasmine needs morecare, not less, now that she's getting weaker (and heavier – a nasty side-effect of the steroids)."

Can you imagine that. Oh sorry you did not die but we have to take away your nurse that gives you your only break ( Jasmine is 24hr care )

    I hope all
Fianna Fail supports think long and hard before they vote for them again we need to stand together as a county and say STOP TO ALL THIS.

This is outrageous. Seriously, contact all the media outlets you can think of. The tabloids are usually good at bringing stuff like this to peoples' attention. Try all the newspapers and radio stations. Here's a few I looked up:

    Irish Independent: +353 (0)1 705 5333 independent.letters@independent.ie

    Irish Times: +353 1 675 8000 newsdesk@irishtimes.com

    Joe Duffy: 01 208 3264 joe@rte.ie 1850 715 815

    Today FM: 1850 715100

    The Sun: talkback@the-sun.co.uk

By the way, do you have medical insurance? Is there anywhere you could get it done privately? If money is a problem, I'm sure your fellow boardsies would help out.

Also, this may be helpful: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/health/hospital-services/hospital_treatment_abroad
If medical treatment that you require is unavailable in Ireland, you may be entitled to be covered for getting it abroad.
