I'm looking to buy one of these but there's a major price difference between the Studio version and the Educational Version. What does studio have that the normal version doesn't. I'm buying this because <snip>

Would Cubase 5 be the right choice to start off with dance music production or is their better out there..?

    Thanks

Or you could buy Logic 8? Integration is very good with Mac and the synths and sounds that come with it are very good.

You also get to utilize Apple Loops.

It also comes with 87 gigs of sounds , as I recall

Not specifically.Usually an Education version is a full featured program but at a reduced price for students.

Proof of being in Education is necessary.

there is a feature comparison here:

    http://www.steinberg.net/en/products/musicproduction/cubasestudio5_product0/cubasestudio5_featuredetails1000.html

The educational one is cheaper because it includes a discount for educational facilities (I am pretty sure you have to prove you are either a student or a trainer to avail of this)

I don't use cubase, I have both Logic and Pro-Tools. As Paul says Logic Studio comes with lots of stuff that is very useable. What are you using the software for primarily? Sequencing or recording?

Yeah that comparison answers my question, i'm using it for sequencing not recording, don't think i'll get Logic just not a big fan of its layout

    Cheers
