He's recommending crunchbang linux - it's another Xubuntu clone. I use the netbook version of it on my Acer - it is excellent.

cool,do you have an Acer Aspire one Netbook?
And why are Netbooks so popular with Linux Distro users?

Did I say Acer? I meant Asus. I've the 4G model of the Asus Eee.

I don't think netbooks are more popular with Linux users than with Windows users - they're just popular overall. The fact that a lot of them come with some distro preinstalled helps of course.

The Asus distro is pants tho - total pants. I wiped it pretty smartish and put on Ubuntu-eee which was better but slow. Then I discovered #! and it is excellent. Minimal desktop, much faster and has all media codecs preinstalled (not that it's hard to install them anyway).

    /bumped for results.

    No surprises IMO.

I recently stuck Arch on a VM and am very impressed but I had voted for Slack.

Although I use Ubuntu I picked Debian because it made so many other great derivative distros possible.
