In the wild in the long long ago older men were highly sought after because they'd managed to survive. Male pattern baldness evolved as a signal for age. People who go bald early have got a gene for 'tricking' teh womens.

In that time long past offspring of two young people had less chance of surviving than the offspring of a young buck with an older woman or the offspring of an older man with a fertile young thing.

It's all quite natural IMO although in patriarchal pastoralist/agricultural societies a man being with an older woman came to be frowned upon whilst only since the 'liberation' of womens has the reverse come to be seen as unseemly.

All good, once it's for the right reasons and she's legal (although I only say that because 17 is the legal age in this country). If the age gap is really significant though (as in, he's 45, she's 25) it might affect things in terms of life stages... but then again, maybe it might not. Depends on each case individually. I've been with quite a few guys much older than me from the age of 19 on - no complaints.

Well it depends on the age gap and the actual ages themselves (22 and 17 - big gap; 32 and 27 - unnoticable gap; 60 and 30 - huge gap).
And I'd still be of the view women going out with younger men would cause far more raised eyebrows then the reverse. Even if a 30-year-old woman was going out with a 25-year-old man it would be viewed as weird... It would take a far bigger gap for a man going out with a younger woman to get grief for it.

Nah I know the fact she's in school and hasn't experienced college life, adds to the age gap all right. Once she's in college a few months though, the difference will be far smaller.
