Yes. The Church are in need of more priests. They held a recruitment fair to get more men into the church.

Priests who had sex with children were protected by the church.

Is there anything to stop someone working as a priest for, say, 20 years and during that twenty years save like mad and once 20 yrs have passed just quit the priesthood with all the savings, find himself a piece of skirt, move abroad or to another part of Ireland and set up a business, invest in property etc. ?

And yes your best years would be behind you but you would still have some good years left. What is the youngest age a priest can qualify/get ordained whatever the hell they do?

Well, I suppose they could get married and have sex. Then if their wife died they could become a priest.

Yes, they are allowed, in fact that's what was supposed to be done because there are 7 holy sacraments. Baptism, Reconciliation, Communion, Confirmation, Matrimony, Holy Orders, Annoiting of the Sick.

The only way to carry out all 7 is to perform Holy Orders before you get married, since you are not allowed to get Married while you are a priest, you must leave the priesthood to do so!

I actually know a former Priest, now Physics teacher, who is Married to a Friend of Mines mother. I know a man who left the seminary with only a few month's to go. And I have a friend who is Currently studying to be a priest.

I am an athiest who will argue my point so it makes for some interesting discussions with the last fella!!!
