Will a 9 speed derailleur work on a 7 speed cassette??

    I have a 9 speed derailer working with an 8 speed chain, which is the same as a 7 speed chain, so I'd imagine that you'd have no problems, particularly with the derailer you linked to. The number of cogs on the cassette doesn't make any difference.

    Thanks for that Rugdh, I ended up speaking to someone last night about it and they said the same thing. Will go ahead with that

    Would like to add some extra gears eventually but would be a fair few bits to replace this will keep me ticking over for now.
