Red/Grenn Dot or Scope For AEG??

Just wondering which would be better to put on an M4 , a red/green dot or scope?

for indoors eg the warehouse a red dot is most useful, outdoors eg hrta ect. a short 3x scope with a large front lens would be best! or if you have the money and want to do both you could get a halo type sight with a seperate magnifier with a twist or side flip mount!!
