Our HP 2550 colour printer wont print anymore .

We get a message that it has insufficient memory
We have no idea , where to look for the memory stick on it.

Is it possible to delete data to create memory , or what should we do ?

We never realised that memory runs out on printers too

When you send a document to the printer, it gets stored in the printer's memory during the print, rather than constantly having to ask the computer for the next bit of data to print. This is internal, not on a USB stick or other memory card at all.

Are you printing a very large document (either by page count or number/quality of graphics)? Try printing only the first half of it followed by the second half. Do simple short documents print OK? Have you tried turning the printer off and unplugging for 10 minutes to allow any stale documents to clear from the printer memory?

I think your printer has a SODIMM memory module (like what's in a laptop) somewhere inside. If turning it off and unplugging it for a while doesn't solve this problem, the module may have got loose (was the printer moved around or knocked recently?) or may have become faulty. If you look on HP's support website you should find instructions somewhere on how to access the memory.

Thanks for the help lads ,

We had a problem with imaging drum last week and in frustration , probably changed settings on printer.

It was set to spooler or something liek that ,and we have now changed it back to ' print directly to printer .

Fingers crossed now , it is still printing anyway , and not getting that stupid message ' insufficient memory.

I did notice though , that there is a slot on the side of printer , same as a PC , for installing RAM .
