Receiving Irish TV channels thru Sky HD Box in UK

I am advised by Sky that I can use the 'other channels' option on my Sky HD box to receive Irish Channels. However to set it up I need their polarity & frequency. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

The Irish channels aren't available over satellite at all, so I'm afraid the people from Sky weren't correct. Well, the TV channels anyway - I presume you're asking about TV rather than radio. I'm not even sure the radio channels are carried on satellite.

The only way to get the Irish channels is to be in Ireland and pick it up with an arial.

    ?

There all available via sat, they are Encrypted so can only be picked up if you have a SKY Ireland sub.

Even then the sky box would need to be connected to Irish phone line.

If you have an Irish viewing card, the Irish terrestrial channels should be at EPG positions 101-104.

Otherwise, with a UK viewing card, you won't be able to watch these channels (transponder 10744, horizontal polarisation) but can still use their respective teletext services.

As had been said, the radio stations are not encrypted on Astra 2/Eurobird.

This would be the case only with a multi-room subscription to avoid paying for multiple full subscriptions.

Irish Radio Channels RTE 1 & 2 Newstalk etc are available in the UK through the Sky Box. No need to set them up on other channels either

So why is it that my relatives in Dublin can get all the UK channels on their Sky box? Seems a bit silly!

Because the UK channels chose to go FTA. It has nothing to do with Sky. RTÉ cannot afford to go FTA on satellite.

Oooops, sorry about that. Beer filter may have been applied at time of posting. I stand corrected . . . RTE is available over the satellite. I'm not sure what I was thinking of when I answered the post.
