Hey Guys! My Amps (Mesa Recto & Laney GH50L) both seem to be picking up electrical noise from my computer. Would this be something I'd need a power conditioner to fix or does anyone have any other suggestions?

It is more than likely the wiring/earthing in your house (my amps were picking up an electric drill from next door today).

One of the more affordable power conditioners/distributors can make a difference (they have some filtering etc.), but for real proper power conditioning expect to pay mucho dinero.

I have a power distributor with filtering where I record, and I think it made a bit of a difference to toning down the background noise. (I think its an ETA, I must check again).

Otherwise, it could be that your amps are too close to your computer (unlikely, but that their magnetic fields are interacting with one another). Try physically moving the amp, or plugging in at a different socket (may or may not help depending on the house wiring).

Thanks for the reply! They are at opposite ends of the room and plugged into different sockets so I guess its the wiring off my house :( I have an ISP decimator which eliminates the noise but I was hoping to fix it outright which doesnt seem likely now :(

I had the same problem with my amp, thought it was the TV first, then the laptop, mobile phone charger, dodgy effects.. whet over everything plugged into a socket.... I turned of the light and it stopped.

The problem was caused by an energy saving EFL.

I can pick up French radio stations on my Mesa LSS :) Can't hear them once I start playing though!

These things are a pain in the hole! This is the reason why I still have a "regular" lightbulb in my room. Much less noise! :)
