    How about this:

    http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/asp/versions.asp?rewrite=M51SE-AS112C_M51SE-AS112C&pagetype=version&page=

    Asus M51SE-AS112C Laptop

    * Processor - Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 / 2 GHz ( Dual-Core )
    * RAM - 3 GB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR2 SDRAM - 667 MHz ( 1 x 1 GB + 1 x 2 GB )
    * Hard Drive - 250 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm
    * Operating System - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
    * Screen - 15.4" TFT 1440 x 900 ( WXGA+ ) - Color Shine
    * Optical Drive - DVD±RW / BD-ROM
    * Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 3470 - 256 MB
    * Bluetooth - Yes
    * Notebook Camera - Integrated - 1.3 Megapixel
    * Warranty - 2 years warranty

    €774.28 + €24 delivery = ~€800

    Beats the Dell in almost every possible way- it even has a Bluray drive.....

    I'm not fond of Laptopsdirect- and people's experiences here are very mixed (to say the least), but you're going to have serious difficulty beating some of their offers.

    If you want a serious monster- have a look at the Acer 8930G - its what I use- its a dream laptop.

    MS Office Pro left out though, which explains 300 quid worth of extra enhancements.

    Ok. To start from the basics.

    Are you a home/student or business user? Do you really need MS Access database software and MS publisher?
    A home user can get Word, Excel, Powerpoint at a saving of €200 euros.

    Would agree with smccarrick that upgrading to a more up to date Intel CPU should cost very little and is recommended.
