It a little known fact about Saint George. A slightly more well known fact is that he really didn't slay a dragon.
Yet another Saint Georges Day arrives almost unnoticed. Why don't the English have a day of drinking celibration like the Irish do during Paddies Week?

Mrs. Goat seem to think that the English are a little shy of celibrating their parton saint because right wing elements have adopted the Cross of Saint George as a badge and that the sight of massed English flags tends to be intimidating as a result.

Actually, he's also the patron saint of a whole bunch of places including Catalunya where he's called Sant Jordi. And they celebrate it there also as their version of Valentine's Day. Traditionally the girl gets a rose and the guy gets a book from each other. Something about when George or Jordi killed the dragon, it turned into a rose. I can't remember how the book fits in! Some more useless trivia for you!
