What channels do you receive on it? Are any of them HD?

No all the DTT Channels (ie all 4) broadcast in SD, but Mpeg4 SD!

As above but the misleading part is that in France the DTT service is called TNT and they originally starting using MPEG2, it was only when their HD channels came along that they started using MPEG4, in Ireland, we are going to be using MPEG4 for ALL channels right from the start.

The FTA DTT channels in France broadcast in Mpeg2. The commercial (pay) channels then came along and broadcast exclusively in Mpeg4 H264. Thats why there is a mixture.

In any case, it is the law now in France that products carry a TNT HD logo for Mpeg4 products.

Other Mpeg4 boxes below, again you will find that they will cheaper on ebay second hand.

Yamada - DTV 4000 HD - Décodeur TNT HD - Double péritel €89

No MHEG5 text. Normal text, yes.

For MHEG5 text you need a model from NZealand. There is a thread on those boxes here (might be an idea for a sticky - byte/watty - seem to come up regularly). they meet the spec.

Has anyone got a photo of the back panel for this STB ?

i have a pic but back is basic, on left as you look from rear you have rf in, rf loopthrough, then usb port, next to that hdmi, then 2 scart one above the other, vcr and tv, optical out, then hard wired 2 pin plug for power,

Just to confirm has any sigmatek owners here recieved any digital teletext or has definitely got no MHEG5 capabilities (rendering it useless for me and anyone with respect for €113)

it picks up aertel txt but not mheg5, although if we have only 4 channels I would not get too hung up on mheg5 text, it does have a nifty epg and for the money its a good buy, hdmi etc. Look around and you may find it cheaper.
