Update fields in a block?

Hi, Am creating a "Draft" block and want to insert a date field in it - however when I've used it so far the field doesn't update when I reinsert the block. Any ideas on how to set it up that the date updates automatically? All using Acad 2006 & 2007. Cheers

The UPDATEFIELD command mannually updates any fields that you select. You probably want this done automatically so you need to change the FIELDEVAL system variable. It's options are:

0 = Not updated
1 = Updated on open
2 = Updated on save
4 = Updated on plot
8 = Updated on use of ETRANSMIT
16 = Updated on regeneration
