I generally prefer 70mm whenever possible. 35mm is ok too but sometimes the grain does start to show when blown-up on the latestt high-tech televisions accompanied by blu-ray disk.

Just in case anyone mistakes this for being true, it's not.

35mm has a far higher resolution than Blu-Ray DVD. The "grainy" effect that you perceive actually comes because of the laziness of some studios using the original master copy to create numerous negative copies, degrading the quality of the original.

Obviously long term storage of the originals causes some degradation also, so some older "classics" (I use the term sparingly since some people mention films such as Fast and Furious among their favourites so I am forced to assume taste in films is sparing in AH) will suffer badly from this long term storage. The archiving systems and technologies used now are far superior to those in use when The Jazz Singer ushered in the talkies.

So, in short, when you say you prefer 70mm to 35mm cause of modern technology making it look grainy, you are totally mistaken in that assumption.

Been watching a few films lately and thought I'd throw up a thread about peoples favourite films in after hours. So what are yours?

A couple on the top of my list would be:

    Man on Fire
    Gone in 60 Seconds
    Fast and furious 1
    The Bourne Identity
    Lucky Number Slevin
    Inside Man
And most films with Will Smith:)
Looking at that list and the will smith comment at the end, I had to check did I actually write it :) - it's the same (but different) as what i would pick

The last Rambo film was perfect.

How can anybody like the fast and the furious films, they're really, really, terrible films, just awful. It's like they where made by 12 year olds from a country that doesn't have any cars in it.

Just back from the pub and on ITV 2 there was Terminator 2. I watched it with no sound ("cool" indie playing) but having watched it before I knew the film inside out. It was awesome. Apart from that the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Matrix trilogy are hard to beat I reckon. Oh, and Flashpoint starring Jenna Jameson.
